The device has a compact design, achieved through the use of pancake lenses, and is powered by the Snapdragon XR2 Gen 1 processor.

It supports mixed reality through color passthrough, which HTC claims has a higher resolution and dynamic range than the Quest Pro headset.

The Vive XR Elite also has a depth sensor to automatically mesh a user's room for virtual object collisions with real objects, and comes with Quest 2-style tracked controllers, as well as support for controller-free hand tracking.

The headset has dual LCD displays with a resolution of 1920x1920 each, a refresh rate of 90Hz, and a claimed field of view of "up to 110 degrees". The Vive XR Elite is available for preorder now, with shipping set for late February.
